DEC 20 FLAT.SCAPES:LAB 4.0 FLAT.SCAPES:LAB 4.0 is the urban pedagogy programme aimed at deeper understanding of the principles, methodologies and challenges in Dutch theory and practice in architecture/urban design. It is generated through three blocks / phases; (1) ANALYSIS: Mapping & Research / January-June 2014, (2) CHECK-IN-SITU: study visit tour / July 2014 and (3) Experience Archiving: Evaluation / August - December 2014. From July 19- 30 2014, as part of the second phase, participants of FLAT.SCAPES:LAB 4.0 - more than 150 students of architecture, urban planning and related disciplines from Novi Sad, Belgrade & Niš (Serbia), Skopje & Bitola (Macedonia), Podgorica (Montenegro) and Banja Luka & Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - will explore, study and examine the cityscapes of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haague, Utrecht, Delft and Almere. Agenda includes whole chain of collaboration events - site inspection visits, workshops, debates and lecturing sessions with local partners: architecture collectives, studios (large and small), independent researchers and schools of architecture.. Diy initiatives and decisions made under-up are examined as the new-old  framework which we should all target again. Top down is rightfully challenged for not being relevant nor efficient in spatial production.  In this concern, claiming the right to the city became a new mantra for young architects and professionals - victims of the mistakes made in the past. The right to the city is reinforced with new tendencies in reconstructing the city ownership - But, let us be honest, we do not own the city. What can we do? read more FLAT.SCAPES:LAB workshop *Agniesebuurt STREET.SCAPES:LAB (AgSS:L) is an open-air series of events  in Agniesebuurt Area in Rotterdam Noord, aimed at promoting collective usage of public space through occupying models and general public engagement. Groups of students will produce interventions with guidance of - Yasemin Sengil (SHAPESHIFT Rotterdam), UNKNOWN Rotterdam, Post Office,Piet Vollaard ,Stealth, Milena Ivković &Blok74., joined with young practitioners and interns from many offices for the Community (vs.) Practice wrap up workshop. Targeting DIY tendencies in architectural and urban research and production, workshops are conceived as half-day, intensive, cross-disciplinary, discussion-based modes, resulting in emancipatory proposals for urban (re)vitalisation that will be followed by public debates about creative approaches to urbanity in new circumstances. Agniesebuurt STREET.SCAPES:LAB (AgSS:L) Architectural Walks Students will visit, analyse and collect data for around 40 sites in 5 cities (De Uithof Masterplan; Java, Borneo  and KNSM area; Almere Masterplan, etc.) as well as numerous offices and studios (Domain, MVRDV, KAAN, OMA, Zus, De Urbanisten, Space & Matter, ..). These learning itineraries  will enable  students to critically review the previously mapped and researched content and  to discuss  topics and questions posed through the first phase in situ - with local designers, planners, researchers joined by SCAPES.LAB network tutors. Post production phase includes setting up a digital database of all collected materials and  encouraging students to produce individual responses and critical conclusions in the form of essays, diaries, storyboard sheets, case studies and other media (video, audio works etc.). Final outcome will be published in a FLAT.SCAPES:LAB 4.0 book-map-blog-a-azine, available to everyone, in September 2014 and presented in seven cities in the Balkan (Novi Sad, Belgrade, Skopje, Podgorica, Niš, Sarajevo and Banja Luka).
