Strategically positioned in Central Italy, approximately 100 km east of Rome, L’Aquila is nestled among national parks and landscapes of outstanding natural beauty. Capital of the Abruzzo region and home to around 80,000 inhabitants, the city is renowned for its rich artistic and architectural heritage, often referred to as the city of the 99 churches, squares, and fountains. Its urban fabric spans from Roman foundations to contemporary architecture, with iconic landmarks such as the Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio, the Fountain of the 99 Cannelle, and the Spanish Fortress.  Beyond its historical depth, L’Aquila holds a distinctive spiritual and cultural significance. It hosts the Perdonanza Celestiniana, a jubilee celebration promoting forgiveness and peace recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, and is home to the only Holy Door located outside Rome. L’Aquila is also one of Italy’s most vibrant academic and research hubs. The city hosts three higher-education institutions, including the University of L’Aquila, the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI), an international PhD school, and a department of the Pontifical University. It is closely connected to the INFN Gran Sasso National Laboratories, one of the world’s leading underground research facilities. Together, these institutions create an exceptional environment for academic exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and international collaboration In 2026, L’Aquila will also hold the prestigious title of Italian Capital of Culture, a national recognition of the city’s resilience and its remarkable physical, social, and cultural regeneration following the 2009 earthquake. The initiative highlights L’Aquila’s role as a model for sustainable cultural renewal in Italy’s internal and mountain regions, emphasizing community participation, cultural innovation, and territorial identity. Throughout the year, more than 300 cultural events will take place over 300 days, creating a unique backdrop of artistic, scientific, and societal exchange for conference participants. ​ Situated at approximately 700 meters above sea level and surrounded by some of the highest peaks in Southern Europe, L’Aquila enjoys a temperate climate, with average temperatures around 14°C in September. The surrounding region offers exceptional wilderness landscapes, medieval villages, castles, and historical sites well worth exploring. L’Aquila is a compact and walkable city: its historic center can be comfortably explored on foot in about 15 minutes. The city lies in the UTC+1 (CET) time zone, uses the Euro (€) as its official currency, and accepts major credit cards widely. While Italian is the official language, English is commonly spoken in hotels, shops, and throughout academic and research environments. Efficient public transportation connects the city center with university campuses, railway stations, and surrounding districts. Direct bus services link L’Aquila to Rome and Pescara, complemented by private coach services to major Italian cities. Taxi services, car rentals, and private minibus options are also readily available both within the city and from nearby airports. Papers accepted in this track will be included in the conference proceedings. Ph.D. Symposium Track: Invites Ph.D. students to submit their planned or ongoing research. Papers accepted in this track will be included in the conference proceedings. Poster Track : 3 to 6 pages including references, tables, and figures. Accepted authors will be invited for poster presentation. Submissions to this track will not be included in the proceedings.  Industrial Track: Includes invited talks and tutorials from industry experts. No paper submission is required under this track. If you have industrial work as a paper, kindly submit it under the Research Track. Presentation: Authors must register and present their work at the conference. ​ Poster Track Submission Instructions The Poster Track at FAIEMA 2026 provides a platform for PhD Candidates and Master Students to showcase their research and receive valuable feedback. Submission Format: Extended abstract (3 to 6 pages including references, tables, and figures). Review Process: Single - Blind review. Authors names should be included in the extended abstract Presentation: Accepted submissions will be presented as posters in a dedicated session. Publication: PhD/Student Forum submissions will not be published in the conference proceedings.
